汽車(chē)模型的各個(gè)部件都是澆鑄出來(lái)的，澆鑄就需要金屬模具。汽車(chē)模型廠里會(huì)有專(zhuān)門(mén)的車(chē)間生產(chǎn)金屬模具。他們根據(jù)石膏的模型，使用機(jī)床加工模具。這個(gè)車(chē)間猶如所有的機(jī)械加工廠一樣，一進(jìn)入就會(huì)感到滾滾熱浪，金屬的撞擊聲、旋轉(zhuǎn)的刀具發(fā)出的切削聲不絕于耳。這是一個(gè)讓人不愿意多呆的地方，但是工人們依然默默的在自己的崗位上，為每一個(gè)精美的車(chē)模流著汗水。

汽車(chē)模型零件的做工直接影響到整體質(zhì)量，尤其是一些能開(kāi)啟的部件，例如：車(chē)門(mén)、行李廂之類(lèi)，這些零件的尺寸精度要求是很高的，否則在開(kāi)閉的時(shí)候會(huì)有松動(dòng)現(xiàn)象發(fā)生。另外金屬鍍件的光亮程度，儀表板的粘紙等也很重要。
